Privacy Policy.
Rehri (“Rehri”, “we”, “us”) is an app for keeping track of the places you eat, ranking them, and seeing where people you know eat. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Rehri app and website, why, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
- Account details. When you sign in with Google, Apple or your phone number, we receive the details that provider shares: your name, email address or phone number, and a unique account ID. If you use Apple's “Hide My Email”, we receive the relay address, not your real one.
- Profile. Your name, username, city, and optionally your college, bio and profile photo. These are visible to other Rehri users.
- Phone number (optional). If you add one, it is used only so that friends who have your number saved can find you on Rehri. It is never shown on your profile. You can remove it at any time in Edit profile.
- What you log. The places you visit, your ratings and rankings, notes, dish names, photos you upload, places you save, guides you create, and who you follow. Visits are shared with your followers unless you choose “Hide from the feed” when logging.
- Food preferences. Cuisines you tell us you love or avoid, used to recommend places.
- Reports. If you report content or a person, we keep the report so we can review it.
Your contacts
Finding friends from your contacts is optional and only happens after you tap to allow it and grant permission. When you do, the app turns each phone number into a scrambled code (a one-way cryptographic hash) on your phone, and sends only those codes to our server to check which belong to Rehri accounts. We do not receive or store your contacts' names or numbers, and we do not keep the codes after answering. Nobody is messaged unless you tap Invite, which opens WhatsApp or your messages app for you to send yourself.
Information collected automatically
- Device and push notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can tell you when someone follows you or interacts with your visits.
- Install referral (Android). If you install Rehri from a friend's invite link, Google Play tells the app which invite it came from, so you and your friend can follow each other automatically.
- Server logs. Like most services, our servers record basic technical information such as IP address and request times, for security and troubleshooting.
Rehri does not use your location, does not include advertising or analytics trackers, and does not sell your information.
How we use information
- To run the app: your lists, rankings, feed, profile and recommendations.
- To show your activity to people who follow you, and places and people you might like.
- To calculate taste matches between you and other users, from places you have both visited (visits hidden from the feed are never used).
- To send notifications you have allowed.
- To keep Rehri safe: to review reports, and to remove content or accounts that break our rules.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that help us run Rehri, and only as needed:
- Google Firebase — sign-in (Google, Apple and phone number) and push notifications.
- Apple and Google — when you choose to sign in with them.
- Our hosting providers — which store our servers, database and uploaded photos.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users. We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Your choices
- Edit your profile, phone number and preferences at any time in the app.
- Hide any visit from the feed when you log it, or make your account private so only approved followers see your activity.
- Block anyone: neither of you will see the other anywhere in Rehri.
- Turn off contacts or notifications in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account in the app under Settings → Advanced → Delete account. This removes your profile, visits, photos and follows from our servers.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information, except where we must keep limited records for legal or safety reasons (for example, a report about abuse).
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections, and access to our systems is restricted. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information.
Children
Rehri is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
